Ossett Town lose two key players ahead of Evo Stik Division One North campaign

Promotion-chasing Worksop Parramore have signed Ossett Town pair James Cotterill and Danny Patterson.

The duo were key players for Craig Elliott’s men last season in the Evo Stik Division One North so for Worksop it is a huge statement of intent ahead of the new Northern Counties East League Premier Division campaign.

Patterson (pictured above, right) did agree to sign for Ossett at the end of June, but went back on his word when Worksop came calling. The midfielder provided muscle to Ossett’s midfield for the second half of last season and played a key part as Town finished in 12th place.

Cotterill was Ossett captain during his second spell at Ingfield having re-signed for the club last summer. Cotterill had previously played for Ossett under Steve Kittrick.

He is a solid centre-half and one who should be playing higher than NCEL Premier Division so Worksop have pulled off a coup. Signings like the defender cement Parramore’s position as one of the favourites for the title.

For Ossett boss Elliott, he has to look to fill void left. He has signed highly-rated young goalkeeper Tom Taylor from Brighouse Town, but a new defender and midfielder is required.
